นกแก้วโม่ง

แก้วโม่ง (อังกฤษ: Alexandrine parakeet, Alexandrine parrot; ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์:Psittacula eupatria) เป็นนกตระกูลนกแก้วขนาดเล็ก-กลาง โดยมีชื่อสามัญตั้งขึ้นเพื่อเป็นเกียรติแด่ อเล็กซานเดอร์มหาราช กษัตริย์แห่งอาณาจักรมาซิโดเนีย เมื่อครั้งยาตราทัพเข้ามาสู่ในทวีปเอเชีย โดยได้นำนกแก้วชนิดนี้กลับไปยังทวีปยุโรป

นกแก้วโม่งมีถิ่นกำเนิดแพร่กระจายทั่วไปในแถบทวีปเอเชีย ตั้งแต่ฝั่งตะวันตกและตะวันออกของอัฟกานิสถาน, ไล่ลงไปยังอินเดีย, อินโดจีน เช่น พม่า หรือ ประเทศไทยฝั่งตะวันตก รวมทั้งยังพบได้ตามหมู่เกาะในทะเลอันดามัน

ลักษณะ[แก้]

นกแก้วโม่งมีความยาววัดจากหัวถึงปลายหางได้ราว 57-58 เซนติเมตร ลำตัวมีสีเขียว จงอยปากมีลักษณะงุ้มใหญ่สีแดงสด บริเวณหัวไหล่จะมีแถบสีแดงแต้มอยู่ทั้งสองข้าง นกเพศผู้และเมียสามารถแยกแยะได้เมื่อนกโตเต็มที่ กล่าวคือในเพศผู้จะปรากฏมีแถบขนสีดำและสีชมพูรอบคอที่เรียกกันว่า "Ring Neck" ซึ่งในนกเพศเมียไม่มีเส้นที่ปรากฏดังกล่าว

อนุกรมวิธาน[แก้]

นกแก้วโม่ง มีชนิดย่อยลงไปอีก 4 ชนิด คือ

• P.e. nipalensis พบมากในเกาะซีลอน และทางใต้ของอินเดีย
• P.e. magnirostris พบในบริเวณหมู่เกาะอันดามัน
• P.e. avensis พบในเขตรัฐอัสสัม, พม่า
• P.e. siamensis พบได้ในภาคตะวันตกของประเทศไทย, ลาว, กัมพูชา และเวียดนาม

ความแตกต่างของแต่ละชนิดย่อยนั้น อาจมีต่างกันเล็กน้อยในเรื่องของ ขนาด, ความยาว และสีสันที่ปรากบนลำตัว

พฤติกรรม[แก้]

อาหารของนกแก้วโม่งในธรรมชาติ ประกอบด้วย เมล็ดพืชต่าง ๆ, ผลไม้หลากชนิด, ใบไม้อ่อน ฯลฯ

นกแก้วโม่งจัดเป็นนกแก้วที่มีเสียงร้องค่อนข้างดัง และมักเลือกที่จะทำรังตามโพรงไม้ใหญ่ ๆ โดยใช้วิธีแทะหรือขุดโพรงไม้จำพวกไม้เนื้ออ่อน หรืออาจเลือกใช้โพรงไม้ที่เก่าต่าง ๆ โดยในฤดูผสมพันธุ์ซึ่งจะแตกต่างกันตามลักษณะสายพันธุ์ย่อย อันเกี่ยวเนื่องกับอุณหภูมิและสภาพทางภูมิศาสตร์ แต่โดยเฉลี่ยจะเริ่มจากเดือนพฤศจิกายน ไปจนถึงราวปลายเมษายน โดยในระหว่างฤดูผสมนี้เพศเมียจะค่อนข้างแสดงอาการดุ และก้าวร้าวมากขึ้น

แก้วโม่งวางไข่ปีละครั้ง ครั้งละ 2-4 ฟอง

สถานะการอนุรักษ์[แก้]

นกแก้วโม่งจัดเป็นนกแก้วที่นิยมนำมาเป็นสัตว์เลี้ยงของมนุษย์ เพราะพบว่าเป็นนกแก้วที่มีความสามารถในการเลียนเสียงต่าง ๆ โดยเฉพาะเสียงมนุษย์ได้ดี ปัจจุบันนกแก้วโม่งจัดเป็นนกที่อยู่ในบัญชีคุ้มครอง 2 ของอนุสัญญาไซเตส รวมทั้งเป็นนกที่กฎหมายให้ความคุ้มครองในแต่ละประเทศด้วยเช่นกัน

นกแก้วโม่งเป็นนกที่ได้รับการนำมาเพาะพันธุ์โดยมนุษย์ประสบผลสำเร็จ ทำให้แนวทางในลดปัญหาจากลักลอบจับหรือล่านกแก้วโม่งป่า เพื่อการค้า มีแนวโน้มที่ดีขึ้น

การเลี้ยงดู[แก้]

สำหรับการเลี้ยงนกแก้วโม่งในครอบครองนั้น ผู้เลี้ยงควรต้องศึกษาในเรื่องของพฤติกรรมความเป็นอยู่, ลักษณะนิสัย รวมทั้งการจัดการด้านอาหารและสถานที่เลี้ยงให้ถูกต้อง เพราะการเลี้ยงนกที่ผิดไปจากธรรมชาติถิ่นที่อยู่เดิมนั้น ปัญหาประการหนึ่งก็คือ "ความเครียด" ของนก ดังนั้นการจัดหาความพร้อมทั้งสถานที่,อุปกรณ์ อาหารการกินที่เหมาะสม อาจช่วยให้นกได้รู้สึกมีความสุขและลดความเครียดลง รวมทั้งยังพร้อมที่จะตอบสนองต่อการเป็นนกในฐานะสัตว์เลี้ยงของมนุษย์ได้อย่างมีความสุข และมีชีวิตที่ยืนยาวต่อไป^[2]
